Daily Crime Log

The University of Alabama Police Department maintains a Daily Crime Log, which contains summaries of each day’s (for a period of the latest 60 days) crime reports made to the UA Police Department. The police department’s crime log is maintained by the Community Relations Division and summaries include each incident’s general location, type, date, time, and disposition of the complaint. An additional crime log that consists of the Clery incident reports provided by Campus Security Authorities is also available online. These incident logs are available online through the department’s website, at:

and

CSA-Log – The University of Alabama Police | The University of Alabama (ua.edu)

The purpose of the daily crime log is to record all criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents that are reported to UAPD. Therefore, not all incidents listed on the crime log are included in the Crime Statistics table in The University’s Annual Security Report or are being investigated by law enforcement. Incidents listed as “Special Inquiry” may also not be listed on the crime log as they do not have a criminal nature.

Incidents are posted within two business days (Monday-Friday, not including holidays or institutional closures) of the information being reported to the Department of Public Safety. Crimes included on the crime log are those that occurred on campus, in or on noncampus buildings or property, public property within the campus or immediately adjacent and accessible from the campus, and reports of crimes that occurred and are reported within UAPD’s patrol jurisdiction. In the event that a crime’s disposition changes, it will be updated, unless that change comes after a period of 60 days. At that time no change to the log is required.

Information may be temporarily withheld if there is evidence that the release of the information would jeopardize an ongoing investigation, jeopardize the safety of an individual, cause a suspect to flee or evade detection, or result in the destruction of evidence.
