Recognizing the dynamic and challenging landscape of digital information and evidence collection, the Regional Evidence Analysis & Cyber-Intelligence Team (REACT) was established in 2014 to address these evolving needs.
Aligned with the mission of the University of Alabama Police Department (UAPD), REACT’s primary objective is to ensure the safety of the UA community through the collection and analysis of cyber-intelligence. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, REACT monitors the internet and dark web for any information that may pose a threat to the UA campus.
In addition to its primary mission, REACT serves as a crucial partner to public safety and law enforcement agencies across West Alabama.
As part of the Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, REACT provides digital forensics services to small law enforcement agencies in the West Alabama region. These services include:
- Mobile Device Forensics
- Computer Forensics
- Investigative Consultations
- On-scene Technical Assistance for Search Warrants
REACT supports law enforcement agencies in combating human trafficking and child exploitation through the deployment of a mobile forensics lab. This lab is equipped to quickly identify and gather forensic evidence from digital devices in the field, thereby expediting the investigative process.
REACT assists with a variety of cases, including:
- Child Exploitation
- Human Trafficking
- Narcotics
- Theft, Robbery, and Burglary
- Harassment and Threats
