The situation is all clear. Honors Hall has been reopened and the chemical has been eliminated.

The hazardous material that caused the evacuation of Honors Hall was a chemical commonly used in laboratories that can become dangerous if dried out and improperly moved. Emergency officials promptly responded and removed the chemical. Out of an abundance of caution, they will destroy the material in a nearby isolated area. A loud detonation may be heard on campus. There is no danger to the campus community.

Honors Hall has been evacuated out of an abundance of caution because of a potentially hazardous material found in a storage room. Emergency officials are on scene to handle and remove the substance. No injuries are reported. Please avoid the area.
