Tuscaloosa Police Investigate Off-Campus Robbery – 11/19/11

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY

Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating a report of a robbery that occurred on November 19, 2011 just after midnight on University Boulevard at the intersection of McFarland Boulevard East.  A male non-UA student and his UA girlfriend reported that they were involved in a minor traffic accident at this intersection. The non-UA male stated that after the accident he got out to speak with the driver of the other vehicle. While he was speaking with the driver, another vehicle stopped and a male exited and struck him in the face. A second suspect then reached into his girlfriend’s vehicle and took property. Both the other vehicle involved in the accident and the vehicle that stopped afterward then drove away traveling east on University Boulevard. The victim was not injured.

The victim described the other vehicle involved in the traffic accident as an older model gold Ford Crown Victoria with a bad paint job occupied by five to six males. The vehicle that stopped afterward is described as a maroon Jeep Cherokee occupied by a male.

University Police Investigate Reports of Uninvited Males Entering Residence Hall Rooms – 11/15/11

UAPD INVESTIGATES REPORTS OF UNINVITED MALES ENTERING RESIDENCE HALL ROOMS

Over the last 7 to 10 days, four students have reported to University housing officials and UAPD that an uninvited male has come into their residence hall room through an unlocked door. In each of these incidents, the male subject has left the room upon being discovered. These incidents can be prevented by always locking hallway and bedroom doors. Please report any suspicious behavior to UAPD at 348-5454 immediately.

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS BURGLARY

A male University of Alabama student and his non-UA male roommate reported to Tuscaloosa Police that they were the victims of a burglary that occurred on October 15, 2011, at approximately 02:10 A.M. in the 1100 block of 14th Avenue.  The victims advised that three unknown males entered their residence after knocking on the door.  The first male suspect presented a pistol and demanded property. The three male suspects took several items of property from the residence and then left in an westerly direction. One victim received minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.

The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect One:

  • Male
  • 18 to 25 years old
  • 5’09” to 6’00” in height
  • 160 to 190 lbs in weight
  • Possibly with braids or a pony tail
  • Wearing a dark colored baggy shirt
  • Armed with a handgun

Suspect Two:

  • Male
  • 18 to 25 years old
  • 5’10” to 5’11” in height
  • 160 to 170 lbs in weight
  • Short buzzed hair style
  • Wearing a green or gold colored shirt and black shorts

Suspect Three:

  • Male
  • 18 to 25 years old
  • 5’10” to 6’01” in height
  • 160 to 180 lbs in weight
  • Short hair style

University Police Investigate Campus Robberies – 09/24/11 – Update

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE CAMPUS ROBBERIES

On September 24, 2011 at approximately 5:00 p.m., an 18-year-old male UA student reported to University Police that he was the victim of a robbery. The student reported that he was walking near the area of the 900 block of Bryant Drive at approximately 3:30 p.m. when he was approached by a unknown male and struck in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.  He stated he felt someone take property from him and afterward saw the initial male fleeing on foot along with two other males in an unknown direction. The victim’s injuries did not require medical treatment..

The description provided of the suspects is as follows:

  • Males
  • Two with dark complexion, one with light complexion
  • One with a shoulder length dreadlock hairstyle with white tips

Update

On September 26, 2011 at approximately 6:15 p.m., UAPD took a second report of a robbery from an 18 year-old male UA student.  The robbery was reported to have occurred on Saturday, September 24, 2011 between 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.  The student reported that he was walking near the area of the 800 block of Campus Drive when he was approached from behind by three males who grabbed his jacket and pulled him to the ground.  One of the males then demanded property and the victim complied.  The males left on foot in an unknown direction.  The victim was not injured.

The description provided of the suspects is as follows:

  • Males
  • Dark complexion
  • Suspect one: approximately 5’08” in height and of heavy build with short hair
  • Suspect two: approximately 5’10” in height and of thin build
  • Suspect three: approximately 5’10” in height and of thin build with dreadlock hairstyle

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY

The Tuscaloosa Police Department received a report of a robbery that occurred at an off-campus business in the 1200 block of Hackberry Lane. Two male suspects entered the business at approximately 7:50 PM on August 2, 2011. One of the males presented a firearm, the other presented a large knife and demanded money. After taking cash, the males exited the building, ran to a parked car and left the area in a southerly direction. No employees of the business were injured.  There were no customers in the business at the time of the incident.

The following description of the suspects was provided:

  • Male
  • Dark Complexion
  • Height – 5’ 10″
  • Age: 20’s
  • Slim Build
  • Wearing a black shirt, dark colored pants, and a black bandana
  • Armed with a small-framed rifle

Suspect 2

  • Male
  • Dark Complexion
  • Height – 5′ 06”
  • Age: 20’s
  • Slim Build
  • Wearing a black shirt shirt, dark colored pants, and a black bandana
  • Armed with a large knife

Vehicle

  • Make: Unknown
  • Model: Sedan
  • Year:  1980’s
  • Color:  Red / Gray

University Police Investigate Campus Altercation – 04/14/11

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE ON-CAMPUS ALTERCATION

On April 14, 2011, at approximately 12:15 a.m. University Police responded to an altercation in the 400 block of Smithwoods Circle. Witnesses stated the altercation started inside a small group house and moved into the parking lot, where shots were reportedly fired into the air. No injuries were reported to police at the scene. The incident remains under investigation. .

University Police Investigate Campus Assault – 04/12/11

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE CAMPUS ASSAULT

A 22-year-old female UA Student reported to University Police that she was the victim of an assault that occurred at approximately 7:10 P.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.  The victim stated she was walking west in the 900 block of University Blvd. when she was struck in the leg by a blow dart. The victim believes the dart was projected from an older model, green, 4 door Honda travelling east on University Boulevard.  The vehicle was occupied by four to five males and females. The victim was transported to DCH for minor injuries.

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE CAMPUS ROBBERY

A 20-year-old female UA Student reported to University Police that she was the victim of a robbery that occurred at approximately 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.  The victim stated she was walking in the 300 block of Marr’s Spring Road on the University campus when she was approached by a unknown male.  The male suspect displayed a knife and demanded property. The student complied with the male’s demand and gave him property. The male then fled on foot in a westerly direction. The victim was not injured during the incident.

The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

  • Male
  • Late 20’s to early 30’s in age
  • Medium complexion
  • 5’10” to 6’00” tall
  • Approximately 200 pounds with a muscular build
  • Wearing blue jean shorts and a white sleeveless t-shirt

ARREST MADE IN MARCH 10, 2011 THEFT

On June 9, 2011, University Police made an arrest in conjunction with the theft that occurred at the bus stop on 4th Street at the Town Center on March 10, 2011.  No other suspects have been identified in connection with the theft.  The subject was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY AND THEFTS

A 22 year-old female UA student reported to Tuscaloosa Police that she was the victim of a robbery that occurred at approximately 1:35 A.M. on Sunday, March 20, 2011.  The victim stated she was talking on her cell phone outside of her off-campus apartment when two males approached her, knocked her down and took her cell phone from her. The male suspects then fled in a westerly direction; there is no further suspect description available. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical treatment. Tuscaloosa Police are also investigating some other cell phone thefts that occurred off-campus around the University and Strip area that did not include injuries to the victims.

On March 10, 2011 around 8:30 P.M., a female UA student reported to University Police that a male snatched her cell phone from her hands while she was at the bus stop on 4th street at the Town Center. The male, who was described as tall and wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, left on a bicycle towards Publix/Campus Drive. There were no injuries to the victim.

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY

The Tuscaloosa Police Department received a report of a robbery that occurred at off-campus business in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue. Two male suspects entered the business at approximately 9:25 on December 12, 2010. One of the males presented a firearm and demanded money. After taking cash, the males fled on foot in a northerly direction. No employees of the business were injured.

The following description of the suspects was provided:

Suspect 1

  • Male
  • Light Complexion
  • Height – 5’ 10″ – 5′ 11″
  • Slim Build
  • Wearing a black shirt, dark colored baggy jeans, black shoes, and a black ski mask
  • Armed with a semi-automatic pistol

Suspect 2

  • Male
  • Medium Complexion
  • Height – 5′ 10″ – 5′ 11″
  • Slim Build
  • Wearing a dark brown shirt, dark colored baggy jeans, white shoes, and a black ski mask
