Internships

UAPD offers both a Criminal Investigation Division (CID), and Regional Evidence Analysis & Cyber Intelligence Team (REACT) internship to qualified UA students during the Fall and Spring semesters.  These internship programs offer the student the ability to work alongside UAPD members within the designated area while also working with Patrol, Dispatch operations and/or Community Relations.  Credit hours will be determined based on the course curriculum and number of hours worked.

  • The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) intern will observe the investigators’ day to day operations to gain an understanding of the investigative process which includes learning about the warrant and arrest procedures, video surveillance review, criminal/victim interview techniques.
  • The Regional Evidence Analysis & Cyber Intelligence Team (REACT) intern will assist in the daily operations of a lab.  During this time interns should expect to assist REACT Team members with evidence handling and management, extraction of data from electronic storage devices, analysis of data, and intelligence gathering and reporting.

Criteria

  • Students interested in participating in the internship program must be actively enrolled as a student at the University of Alabama.
  • Students must be registered for CJ395 or CC395 the semester they do their internship. No exceptions.
  • Each internship program has limited spots; therefore, preference is given to students of senior status (i.e, seniors) needing credit hours.
  • If all available spots are not filled, students who are not seniors, but who are registered for CJ395 or CC395, may be granted an internship.
