UA Alerts

In the event of an emergency, The University of Alabama is prepared to notify the campus community through a variety of methods.

One of the methods the University uses for emergency notifications is UA Alerts. This system enhances the University’s ability to reach students, faculty and staff by simultaneously triggering multiple contact points.

In an emergency, students, faculty and staff may receive emails to their official UA.edu or crimson.ua.edu accounts, SMS text messages, and telephone calls to their mobile and/or home telephones. To receive text messages and phone calls, all faculty, staff and students should update their personal information through the myBama portal.

UA Alerts may also be received by using the UA Safety app.

The UA Safety app provides students, employees and visitors with immediate access to information in case of an emergency on campus.

Features include:

  • Built-in GPS to every campus building and shelter.
  • List of Best Available Refuge Areas in buildings.
  • National Weather Service information for Tuscaloosa County.
  • An emergency contact list for instant dialing with just one push.
  • Location of AED’s and Stop The Bleed kits in buildings.
  • Safety guidelines for potential hazards.
  • An option to livestream 92.5 FM UA Info Radio, which will broadcast safety information in the event of an emergency on campus.

Parents who wish to receive UA Alerts should download the app for iOS or Android devices.
