TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF- CAMPUS ROBBERY

Tuscaloosa Police are investigating two robberies that occurred on March 31, 2013. The first occurred at approximately 8:45 pm in the 1200 block of 9th Avenue and the second at approximately 9:00 pm in the 400 block of 15th Street.

In the first incident, an individual delivering food reported that he was approached by two suspects with a weapon demanding that he give them his money. The victim fled the area without giving the suspects anything.

In the second incident, an individual delivering food reported that he was approached by two suspects with a weapon demanding that he give them his money and phone, which the victim did. No injuries were reported. The suspects in both incidents are described as follows

Suspect 1:

  • Male
  • Medium to dark complexion
  • Between 18 to 20 years of age
  • Medium build
  • Approximately 6’01” in height
  • Wearing black hoodie-style shirt

Suspect 2:

  • Male
  • Medium to dark complexion
  • Between 18 to 20 years of age
  • Medium build
  • Approximately 5’08” in height
  • Wearing black hoodie-style shirt

ARRESTS MADE IN ROBBERY CASES

University Police Department investigators were able to develop information leading to the identification of suspects in the robberies described below. Three suspects were arrested on February 11, 2013 for two counts of second degree robbery each, with a fourth suspect arrested for fraudulent use of a credit/ debit card relating to the case.

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

University Police are investigating the report of two robberies that occurred on February 11, 2013, the first at approximately 12:35 am and the second at approximately 1:20 am in the 800 block of Campus Drive and the 200 block of 7th Avenue. Two UA students reported that they were approached by two individuals asking for a light before being struck in the head and their belongings taken. The individuals are believed to have been occupying a dark colored SUV. No weapons were reported. The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect 1:

  • Male
  • Dark complexion
  • Slim build
  • Approximately 6’00 to 6’02”
  • Possibly with dreadlock hairstyle
  • Wearing black wind suit with a red beanie style hat

Suspect 2:

  • Male
  • Medium to dark complexion
  • Stocky build
  • Average height
  • Wearing blue jeans and a rain coat

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF- CAMPUS ROBBERY

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in the 1200 block of University Blvd. On 12-28-12 at approximately 7:50 p.m., an individual reported that that he was the victim of a robbery. The victim reported that while walking to his car, a male subject approached him holding a weapon and demanded his wallet and phone. The subject left the area in what he believes was an older model white Toyota Camry with another subject driving the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect one:
-Male
-Medium complexion
– Mid 20’s
-5’10” to 5’11” in height
-Short haircut
Suspect two:
-Male
-Medium complexion

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF- CAMPUS ROBBERY

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in the 500 block of Paul Bryant Dr. On 11-25-12 at approximately 12:47 a.m., an individual reported that that he was the victim of a robbery. The victim reported that the two suspects offered to give him a ride home and he accepted.  On the way, the 2 suspects stopped at an ATM and struck the victim with a gun, forcing him to give them his ATM card and PIN number. The individuals then withdrew cash and left the area. The victim reported a minor injury.

University Police Investigate Robbery – 11/18/12

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

University Police are investigating the report of a robbery that occurred on November 18, 2012, at approximately 1:19 a.m. at the intersection of Riverside Dr. and Campus Dr. A UA student reported that he was walking home when he noticed someone following him. The victim attempted to run away when the subject caught up to him and shoved him to the ground. The subject assaulted the victim and took his wallet. The subject ran west on Riverside Dr. and the victim believes that he may have left the area in a silver GMC or Chevrolet truck. No injuries or weapons were reported. The subject is described as follows:
Suspect:
– Male
– Medium to Dark complexion
– Age: appeared young
– Height: approximately 5’10”
– Medium build
– Buzzed style hair cut
– Facial hair
– Wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt

University Police Investigate Sexual Abuse/Assault – 10/19/12

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE SEXUAL ABUSE/ASSAULT

University Police are investigating a report of a sexual abuse/assault that occurred on October 18, 2012, between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. in the 800 block of 2nd Avenue. A female UA student reported that when she was walking through the area, an unknown male approached her, put his arm around her back and then touched her inappropriately. The female student pulled away from him and took defensive actions. The student was struck during the ensuing altercation, but was able to break free and only reported minor injuries. The student called University Police to report the incident the morning of October 19, 2012.

The suspect is described as follows:

– Male
– Dark complexion
– Age: late 20’s to early 30’s
– Approximately 6’4” in height
– Muscular build
– Very short cut hair
– Wearing baggy jeans and a dark shirt

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

On 10-11-12, at approximately 3:30 a.m. a UA student reported that she was the victim of a robbery in the 500 block of Red Drew Ave. The victim reported that while walking through the area, an unknown male with a handgun demanded her purse and also that she follow him into a nearby alley. The victim gave the unknown male subject her purse but did not follow him and he left on foot in a northeasterly direction. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

  • Male
  • 6’01” to 6’02”
  • Wearing blue jean shorts and a dark green hooded shirt with a hat.

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating two robberies that occurred off campus. On 8-25-12 at approximately 2:27 a.m., two UA students reported that that they were the victims of a robbery. The victims reported that while walking in the area of the 1100 block of 13th Street a maroon Ford sedan, possibly a Ford Focus or Ford Taurus, pulled alongside them. The occupants of the vehicle gained the victims’ attentions by speaking to them and then displayed a weapon. The two female victims gave them their purses and ran away. The victims were not injured.
On 8-25-12, at approximately 2:30 a.m., another robbery was reported by a UA student. The student reported that she was walking in the area of the 1200 Block of 13th Street when a male passenger exited a white or tan Chevrolet Impala and approached her asking for her property, which she gave to him. The male suspect got back into the vehicle and fled the scene. The victim was not injured.

  • Medium complexion
  • Approximately 6’00” in height
  • Thin build

Suspect two:

  • Male
  • Medium complexion
  • Wearing dark bandana.
  • White shirt
  • Dark jeans

University Police Investigate Robbery – 07/11/12

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

University Police are investigating a report of a robbery that occurred on July 11, 2012, at approximately 1:20 p.m. in the 600 block of Capstone Drive. A UA student reported that she was walking on the sidewalk when she was approached by an unknown male who was running on an intersecting sidewalk.  As the male passed her, he shoved her and grabbed her cell phone from her hand.  The male continued running east.  The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as follows:

Suspect one:

– Male
– Dark complexion
– Age: late teens/early 20’s
– Approximately 6’1” in height
– Thin build
– Buzzed style hair cut
– Wearing a long black t-shirt, saggy blue jeans, and athletic shoes

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY

On 05/07/2012 at approximately 12:25 a.m., a UA student reported that he was the victim of a robbery in the 1200 block of 12th Street.  The victim reported that he was approached by an unknown male armed with a small knife.  The unknown male demanded the victim’s vehicle.  The victim refused and got into a small altercation with the suspect. The victim retrieved a weapon from his vehicle and the suspect fled in an easterly direction and then south on 12th Avenue towards 15th Street. During the altercation, the suspect struck the victim with the knife causing a minor, non-life threatening injury.
The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

  • Male
  • Medium complexion
  • Muscular
  • Approximately 5’11” to 6’00” in height
  • Approximately 170 – 180lbs in weight
  • Wearing a black tank top, blue jeans, and white shoes
  • Tattoos down both arms
