ARREST MADE IN NOVEMBER 2nd ROBBERY

On Thursday, November 13, 2008, University Police arrested Anthony James Lee in connection with the robbery that occurred in the Solomon’s parking lot on November 2, 2008. UAPD investigators charged Lee on three counts of Robbery I. He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $60,000 bond.

UNIVERSITY POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

Three people (two female UA-students and a non-UA male acquaintance) reported to University of Alabama Police that they were the victims of a robbery that occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008. The group reported that they were approached by an unknown male while walking in the Solomon’s parking lot (south of 6th street near Wallace Wade avenue). The unknown male started a casual conversation with the group, then pulled a pistol from his pocket and demanded property from them. The unknown male then ran to a light colored SUV waiting on Wallace Wade, which drove away southward toward Bryant Drive. None of the group were injured.

The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

• Male – Medium Complexion
• Age 20’s
• Approximately 5′ 09″ in height
• Heavy set
• Wearing a white hooded sweat shirt with a design and baggie jeans

TUSCALOOSA POLICE TAKE DELAYED OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY REPORT

A male University of Alabama student reported to Tuscaloosa Police that he was the victim of a robbery that occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008. The student reported that he was approached by an unknown male in the 1000 block of Convent Street. The unknown male struck the student and took property from him, then left in a unknown direction. The student did not require any medical treatment. The student contacted Tuscaloosa Police to file a report the following morning. He was unable to provide a description of the suspect.

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY

A female University of Alabama student reported to Tuscaloosa Police that she was the victim of a robbery that occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2008. The student reported that she was approached by an unknown male in the 300 block of Reed Street. The unknown male, armed with a pistol, took property from the victim, then left running in a northerly direction. The student was not injured.

The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

• Male – Medium Complexion
• Age – late teens / early twenties
• Approximately 5′ 10″ in height
• Approximately 150 to 160 lbs in weight
• Wearing a red t-shirt, red and blue plaid shorts and white sneakers

Two non-UA individuals reported to Tuscaloosa Police that they were the victims of a robbery that occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2008. The two reported that they were approached by an unknown male in the 600 block of 11th Street. The unknown male, armed with a pistol, took property from one of the individuals, then left running in a southeasterly direction. Neither of the individuals was injured.

The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

• Male – Medium Complexion
• Age 20’s
• Approximately 5′ 09″ in height
• Approximately 170 lbs in weight
• Wearing a black “hoodie” with white letters and black pants

The student reported that he was approached by an unknown male while walking in the Riverside East parking lot. The unknown male, armed with a pistol, took property from the student, then left running in a southerly direction through the parking lot. The student was not injured.

• Age 20’s
• Approximately 6′ 00″ in height
• Approximately 155 lbs in weight

TUSCALOOSA POLICE INVESTIGATE BURGLARY / ASSAULT

On Thursday, July 11, 2008, at approximately 3:20 a.m. Tuscaloosa Police received a report of a burglary / assault that occurred in the 1100 block of Myrtlewood Drive. Upon arrival, police found that the residents of the home (non-UA) had been assaulted by a male during the commission of a burglary. The residents were transported to DCH hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A non-UA 29 year-old male suspect was apprehended by police a few blocks from the incident. This individual has been charged with the crime and is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail. No other suspects are being sought in this case.

TUSCALOOSA POLICE TAKE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY REPORT

On Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 11:30 AM, Tuscaloosa Police took a robbery report from a male UA student who reported that he was robbed outside his residence in the 500 block of 13th Avenue. The student reported that between 1:00 – 1:30 AM on June 26, he was walking back to his residence when he was grabbed by male suspect and forced to the ground. The suspect produced a pistol and took property from the victim. There were no injuries in the incident. There were four other accomplices with the initial suspect. All left in the direction of University Boulevard.

The description provided of the suspects is as follows:

• Males
• 18 to 22 years of age
• Ranging in height from 5’10” and 6’02” in height
• Three persons were of slim build, two were described as over 200 lbs
• All wearing black shorts and white shirts; one suspect wore a bandana

TUSCALOOSA POLICE TAKE OFF-CAMPUS ROBBERY REPORT

On Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 11:00 PM, Tuscaloosa Police took a robbery report from the manager of a business in the 200 block of University Blvd East. The manager reported that between 10:30 and 10:45 PM, two individuals entered the business, produced a pistol and took cash. There were no injuries in the incident. The suspects left the area in an unknown direction.

• Males
• Both approximately 5’ 06″ in height
• Both with slim builds
• Both wearing black pants, black shirts, gloves and masks

The patient who walked away from Bryce Hospital on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, has been located and returned to Bryce Hospital.

WALK-OFF FROM LOCAL TREATMENT FACILITY

On Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at approximately 8:15 a.m., a patient walked away from Bryce Hospital. He was last seen walking east from the facility, and should be considered a danger to the community.

The patient is a 40 year old white male, 5′ 07″, 122 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt and camouflaged shorts.

ARREST MADE IN SMALL GROUP HOUSING AREA ROBBERY

On February 17, 2008, UAPD investigators made an arrest in connection with the robbery that occurred in the Small Group Housing parking lot the evening of February 16, 2008. No other suspects are being sought in connection with the robbery. The subject is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $120,000 bond.

Students Report Robbery

On Saturday, February 16, 2008, two male UA-students reported to UAPD that they were the victims of a robbery. The students reported that an unknown male approached them as they were walking to their vehicle in the Small Group Housing parking lot shortly after 11:00 p.m. The unknown male presented a handgun and took cash from one of the students. The unknown male left on foot in a southerly direction. Neither student was injured in the incident.

The description provided of the suspect is as follows:

• Male
• Age 20’s
• Approximately 6’ 04″ in height
• Approximately 250 lbs in weight
• Wearing dark clothing
